Your Business & Solar PV Can be Part of the Solution
- Whether it’s farms, county councils, factories, shops or homes – solar PV can be part of the solution for businesses looking to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels & CO2 emissions.
- Sole traders, farmers or companies that pay corporation tax can avail of the ACA (Accelerated Capital Allowance), a tax incentive scheme that promotes investment in energy efficient products & equipment by allowing the business to deduct the full cost of the equipment from their profits in the year of the purchase.
- For more information on the ACA, including eligible equipment, accounting time period and minimum expenditure, head to this section of the SEAI website
- For farmers, there is the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) on-farm investment scheme. Funding up to €9,300 or up to 60% of the overall cost will be available to fund a 6kWp solar system. You can read more about TAMS here.
- An investment in solar PV is an investment in the future as well as your business. With a payback period of less than 5 years, the panels will be provide a superior return on investment of approximately 20% throughout the life of the panels which come with a 25 year performance warranty.
- With a typical 6.1 kWp system generating up to 5,400 kWh annually, savings are up to €1,000 annually and the carbon savings are 1.53 tonnes per year (0.283 x 5,400 kWh) by converting sunlight into clean power.
- If you have a surplus of power, it can be diverted to heat water. Legislation is under way to allow selling your surplus energy to the grid. This is how you can be part of the solution while getting an excellent return on your investment.
